1/2/08 - At 1317 crews from 27 were dispatched to 651 Meade St for Public Service / Pumping Detail. Residence located behind R27 qtrs. Personnel from R27 arrived on scene and advised there was only 2" water in basement and to put other 27 companies back in service. Box cleared at 1330.









1/2/08 - At 2040, Crews from Stations 27 & 23,along with 23EMS, were dispatched to 440 Edgar St for fire Alarm coming from 2nd floor smoke detector. Chief 27-2 (Hartshorn) arrived in C27 and assumed command, and reported resident was changing battery in detector. Command placed all companies back in service. Apparatus on the box; E27-1(L27), E27-2, C27, R27, L23, E23, R23, 23-9. Box cleared at 2045.









1/7/08 - At 0945 crews from 27 and 23EMS were dispatched for vehicle crash on the Marshwood Rd, between Keystone Propane &

Casey Hwy. 23EMS arrived on scene advised no fire equipment needed. R27 arrived on scene and the 27 Rescue Officer (Asst Chief Rinaldi) stated the same, and placed all companies back in service. Apparatus on the box: R27, 23-9, E27-1(L27) held at qtrs.

Box cleared at 1000.











1/15/08 - Crews from Station 27 and 23 EMS were dispatched at 2055 for a vehicle crash on the Casey Hwy, with possible rollover.

Dispatch information stated the call was westbound between Olyphant & Throop.  All companies went East on Casey Hwy to Olyphant Ex, turned around and headed back to Throop Ex . Nothing found between exits....TSU 27 with Chief Bocan (R27) onboard

located vehicle crash at the 4mm eastbound on the Casey Hwy in area 6 (Dunmore). Chief Bocan assumed command and notified all incoming units of location. Command placed E27-1(L27), C27, E27-2 back in service. Apparatus on the box: E27-1(L27), C27,

E27-2, R27, TSU27, 23-9, LA Amb. Box cleared at 2130.











1/18/08 - At 0730 Crews from Station 27 and 23-9 were dispatched for vehicle crash on Marshwood Rd between Keystone Propane and Casey Hwy. As crews were responding additional information reported that the vehicle crash was further up Marshwood Rd, possibly in area 26 (Olyphant). Station 26 was dispatched while 27 units continued on the response. Rescue 27 arrived on scene and reported the call was in area 26. Asst. Chief Rinaldi (R27) took Incident Command. Crews from the 27 Rescue extracted pt from the vehicle as E27-1 (L27) was arriving on the scene.Command placed Ladder 27 back in service and advised Lack Comm Center they were waiting the arrival of 26. Apparatus on the box: R27, E27-1(L27), 23-9, E26-1, R26, 27 & 26 PD. Box cleared at 0758









1/23/08 - Crews from 27 and 23-9 were dispatched at 1630 for a vehicle rollover on the Casey Hwy, before Ex. 1 Eastbound. Chief 27-2 (Hartshorn) arrived on scene and assumed command. Chief 27-2 reported one pt self extricated, in the hands of R27 waiting the arrival of 23 EMS. Command placed the E27-1(L27) & E27-2 back in service. Apparatus on the box : E27-1(L27), E27-2, R27, C27, 23-9, 27 PD. Box cleared at 1651.









1/25/08 - Crews from Station 27 were dispatched at 1845 to Keystone Propane for the strong odor of propane gas. Upon Chief 27-2 (Hartshorn) arrival the odor had dissipated. Chief 27-2 placed all companies back in service. Apparatus on the box : Car 27, E27, R27, A23-9.  E27-1(L27) held at qtrs. Box cleared at 1900.











1/28/08 - Crews from 27, 23, and Rescue25 were dispatched at 0036 in the morning to the Mid-Valley Elem for fire alarm. Upon arrival the 27 Engine & 27 Rescue took positions on the "A" side of the building, while the 27-1 Engine (Ladder27) took the "D" side of the building near the Maintenance Room, Rescue 25 took position on "A-D" corner. Lt. Jeff Granza (27Rescue) had Command.Crews from R 27 & R 25 entered the building to investigate the alarm location. Crews located the alarm coming from the Maintenance room, with an electrical odor, and requested Thermal Imaging Camera to find exact location.  27 Rescue Officer requested 27 Ladder to place smoke ejector to extract electrical odor. Finding nothing further all companies returned to service at 0158. Apparatus on scene of the box; E271 (L27), E27, R27, R25, A23-9, 27PD.











1/29/08 - A morning of freezing rain caused many accidents throughout the Valley Area, keeping local Fire & EMS crews busy. At 0815 crews from L27 & R27 were sent to Marshwood Rd, in the area of the Keystone Propane & Casey Hwy for vehicle rollover.

The 27 Rescue located the crash on the Marshwood Rd, past Casey Hwy, one vehicle on it's roof, pt self extricated and due to hazardous road conditions had the 27 Ladder return to qtrs. Lackawanna County Comm Center had requested the units stand-by at their stations due to overwhelming / multiple incidents in the county.  L27 cleared at 0837.











1/30/08 - At 0915 crews from Station 27 were dispatched for AFA at the Mid-Valley Secondary School. As Lackawanna County Communications Center was dispatching Emergency Personnel, the Principal was calling to cancel alarm. Chief 27-2 (Hartshorn) was on scene when the AFA was transmitted, and reported that a student had pulled the alarm in the gymnasium area. Command placed all companies back in service. Companies on the box: R27, L27. Box cleared at: 0920
