![]() 4/8/08 - At 1910hrs, Crews from Station 27 were summoned to 916 Washington St by homeowner for Natural Gas Smell in the basement of the residence. Upon arrival, the 27 Ladder crew checked for gas leak ouside of residence using multi-gas meter and found nothing. 27-2 Chief (Hartshorn) arrived on scene and assumed command, while the 27 Rescue stood by at the hydrant at corner of Cypress St & Washington St. 27 Ladder crews shut-off gas to residence and had command notify UGI to respond to scene, meanwhile Ladder 27 crew investigated further inside the residence in the basement, looking for the odor. Crews searched in vain and found nothing further, and waited for UGI to arrive on scene. As soon as UGI arrived on scene, they (UGI) turned the gas back on to the homeowner and crews were released by command at 1956. ![]()
![]() 4/10/08 - In the early evening at 1928 hrs, crews from station 27 & 23 were dispatched to Clinical Labs at 901 Keystone Ind Park for the building filling up with smoke. Chief 27-2 (Hartshorn) arrived on scene and assumed command. Crews found a bad A/C unit on the roof to be the culprit, and power to the building and unit were shut-off. While crews were in the process of ventilating , an employee from an adjacent building Gertrude Hawks notified command of a fire alarm at there location. Command sent the 27 Ladder on the investigation, and crews found nothing in or outside the business and returned back to previous incident waiting for an electrician to respond to the scene. Crews were released by command at 2252 after the arrival of electrician. ![]()
![]() 4/18/08 - Mid morning, at 1045 am, crews from station 27 & 23 were dispatched for a fire alarm sounding at a residence on Dunmore St. While crews from Station 27 & 23 were enroute, Chief 27-3A (Rinaldi -27 Rescue) arrived on scene and established Command. 27 Ladder crew arrived on scene and went to work to find where alarm was coming from. The culprit turned out to be an alarm clock in one of the bedrooms in the residence. Command 27 placed all companies back in service at 1101 am. Companies on the box- L27, R27, L23, E23, 23 EMS. ![]()
![]() 4/19/08 - Saturday was an eventful day in the Mid-Valley area with numerous brush fires. At 1925 hrs crews from station 27 were dispatched for a brush fire spreading rapidly behind Concrete Texturing on Underwood Rd.
